I have to say I'm very excited to bring in
Lupita Nyongo on the air with us, one of my
favorite people to watch work and see in anything that
she chooses. I think she's actually here, Lapita, are you on?

I'm well, it's good to talk to you.

You would never remember the first time we met, but
it was on a red carpet for one of the
award shows and you were.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Just so well, I remember you, Lapita, and Younga knows
who I am. Got it noted. I will remember this
day for you forever.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Of course, It's is always such a pleasure. So all right,
we got to get into this. We're very excited about
us this movie. We've seen the other two. This is
a Quiet Place Day one, which is the beginning, right,
so it goes back to obviously day one, And did
you watch the other two like we did and just

(00:59):
fall in love with the franchise?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You know, I did, and I was really impressed with
the imagination that went into creating this world. I was like,
oh my god, I guess it's one of those ideas
where you were just like, I can't believe this hadn't
happened before, and it's so good.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
So in this movie, I don't want to get anything
away alien invasion and cats. That doesn't give it away.
But I was hearing that you actually were not a
cat person before this.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Well now I am because of this movie. But I
was definitely very afraid of cats before I made this film,
and I had to face my fear because I really
wanted to play.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Some Wait, wait, what do you have to How do
you face your fear of cats? What's the process?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well, I call it cat therapy. They basically hired someone
who raises cats and trains cats who come over to
my house with a bunch of cats, and then I
just spent time with them. It started off with me
just watching them move in the space from the other
side of the room. And then when I once i'd

(02:05):
interrogated her about all the different cat behavior, I got
a little bit more comfortable and I touched the cat
with one finger, and then two, and then before you
knew it, I was like getting one. Wow, it was
a deliberate process.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Did you end up taking one home adopting one?

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well? Actually, yeah. After making the film, I came back
to La and I got myself a cat.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Look at that cat therapy.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
It does work.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
So all right, this is the Pida Neango A Quiet
Place Day once in theaters a week actually from Friday's
June twenty eighth. But in the franchise, if you haven't
seen aliens are attracted to sound, but you have to
stay quiet. What is what is it's not a normal
set then right.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Well, no it's not. But you know the truth about
making a quiet place, it is not very quiet. So
it's actually quite difficult to like try and lock out
the sounds that the crew have to make in order
to make this film. So and it was entertaining.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Oh I never thought of it that way.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
So really cut the camera two, camera three here, and
then you're just like hearing all this sound, but you're
trying to be intense in the scene.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yes exactly, And then you have to kind of like
figure out what sounds are actually taking place in the scene,
because of course, the sounds that are in the scene
are sounds that are threatening your life, and the sounds
of the cameras are making are things you need more.
So it's quite the mind boggle.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I'm just looking back at.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Let's just take the last decade or so, which seems
to have been just NonStop, great choices for you. Twelve
years a slave that was a while ago, Just incredible work. There.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
You wonder first, Oscar, you're doing a movie like this?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Now? Are there things that you think about that you
haven't done yet that you visualize doing soon?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Or yes, I haven't done a ton of comedy and
I really like to do that.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
You know, where's my room beautiful?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Who would be your like? Who do you think is
the funniest actor out there? Like?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Wou'd be a good co.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Star Donald Glover?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yes, such a good way. That's a great one.
